    coins from Australia

My wife came across a coin purse made from real Kangaroo fur at a garage sale and it contained several Australian coins. It includes 8 coins a little bigger than a quarter with Elizabeth II on the obverse and a platapuss (sp?) and the number 20 on the reverse. They range in date from 1966 to 1981. 3 coins about the size of a dime with Elizabeth II on the obverse and a mole type animal and the number 5 on the reverse. Dated 1967,1974 & 1980. 2 coins with Elizabeth on the obverse and a peacock and the number 10 on the reverse. dated 1982 & 1983. 1 coin that has Elizabeth on the obverse and several kangaroos on the back and 1 dollar. It is the color of a Sac dollar and dated 1984.

I'm sure there is not a lot of value here but any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

KM#66, 20 cents (Krause spells it platypus), cu-ni, the '66 lists at 20¢ VF to 7 Unc and the '81 is 15-50¢, with the others in the same general range.

    That's a short beaked anteater on KM#64, cu-ni 5 cents. '67 = 15¢-$2.25 VF-Unc, '74 = 15¢-5¢ VF-Unc, and '80 = 10¢-35¢ XF-Unc.
2 coins with Elizabeth on the obverse and a peacock and the number 10 on the reverse. dated 1982 & 1983.
    KM#65 cu-ni 10 cents with a Superb Lyre Bird. Both list at 10¢-20¢ XF-Unc.

    KM#74, ni-al-cu, XF $1, Unc. $4.

Monetary value isn't everything, and how many forum members own kangaroo fur coin purses?.

    Thanks for the info Roy.

The kangaroo fur coin purse is kinda neat and with the coins, only cost my wife $2. So I guess she made some money on the deal.

The purse is worth more than the coins, I'd bet. Can you post a photo of it?
